Why Your Neck and Shoulders Hurt
In TCM, the neck and shoulder region is traversed by several important meridians, including the Gallbladder, Small Intestine, and Bladder channels. When Qi flow through these meridians is blocked, pain results.
Common causes include:
- Wind-Cold invasion: Exposure to air-conditioning or cold drafts stiffens the muscles
- Liver Qi stagnation: Emotional stress creates tension in the Gallbladder meridian
- Blood stasis: Poor circulation from prolonged static postures
- Qi deficiency: Weakness allowing muscles to fatigue easily
How We Relieve Neck & Shoulder Pain
Acupuncture
Points like GB21, SI3, and local Ashi points release tension and restore Qi flow. Often provides immediate relief.
Cupping
Applied to the upper back and shoulders to increase blood flow and release stubborn muscle knots.
Gua Sha
Scraping technique breaks up adhesions and promotes circulation. Excellent for chronic stiffness.
Tui Na
Deep tissue massage along meridian pathways, combined with passive stretching to restore range of motion.
What to Expect
Most patients experience noticeable relief within 2-3 sessions. A typical treatment course is 6-8 sessions for chronic conditions. We'll also teach you stretches and ergonomic adjustments to prevent recurrence.
